Beginner Language
A Fun, Interactive Taster
For campers new to French or Spanish or who have limited experience, our Introduction to the Language camp focuses on building a foundation of vocabulary and conversational skills. The camp is designed as a language taster, where campers will learn essential words and phrases they can use in everyday situations. The emphasis is on speaking, listening, and becoming comfortable using the language in a supportive and fun environment. While there will be some exposure to basic reading and writing, this camp does not focus heavily on grammar or writing skills. Instead, the goal is to create a positive and enjoyable experience that encourages campers to gain confidence and begin communicating in French or Spanish. Please note, the Chinese program is a pilot camp program, and is only offered at the Immersion level. All Early Years programs are offered as Immersion-only experiences.
Language Immersion
Speak, Learn, and Live the Language
For campers with prior knowledge of French, Spanish, or Chinese, Language Immersion camps offer a deeper dive into the language. This camp is designed to provide an immersive language experience, where campers are encouraged to speak, listen, and think primarily in their target language. Instructors are bilingual and will guide campers through a series of interactive activities, projects, and experiences, all conducted in the target language. While some parts of camp may be conducted in English to ensure understanding, the primary focus is on language immersion. Campers will be challenged to engage in all camp activities through the target language. This immersive approach allows campers to practice their skills in a dynamic and supportive setting, helping them gain the confidence to use the language naturally. All Early Years programs are offered as Immersion-only experiences.
Two Levels of Learning
Our Language Camps for are designed to meet the needs of campers at different stages of language learning, offering two levels of instruction to ensure every child is challenged and engaged.
Language Level Selection
Choosing a Language Level
We know that selecting the "right" language level can feel tricky - but it doesn't have to be! We offer two options: Beginner and Immersion. Families are encouraged to chose the level that feels closest to their child's comfort and experience, and we'll support the rest. To make the process even easier, we've created a simple flow chart to help guide your decision.
Beginner is designed for children with little to some exposure to the language. Our bilingual counselors can flex their support based on each child's needs - providing more advanced linguistic challenge and scaffolding for campers who are on the intermediate side of beginner, while also offering gentle, age-appropriate English support for those who feel like true beginners. Everyone is encouraged to participate as fully as possible in the target language, at a pace that feels right for them.
Immersion is designed for children who already understand and use the target language at a comfortable level. These groups operate entirely in the language, and move at a quicker linguistic and instructional pace.
Still unsure? Don't worry. Campers may switch levels - up or down - if space allows once we see how they're engaging during the first day of camp. Our goal is to meet children where they are an ensure they feel confident, successful, and excited about learning.
Choose the level that seems right, explore the flow chart if you'd like extra guidance, and we'll help your child thrive from there.
