
Trip & Travel Camps
Unlock Washington, DC - and the world - through the eyes of experienced educators with Washington International School's Global Adventures program! Designed for campers in Grades 5-10, we have a trip for everyone. Our international travel experiences and local day-trip programs offer immersive, hands-on learning that bring global thinking to life.
Led by Passionate and knwledgeable teachers, these adventures go far beyond traditional sightseeing. Campers might uncover hidden stories across their own backyard in DC - exploring museums, embassies, neighborhood histories, and local cultural institutions - or travel abroad to engage with new communities, languages, and landscapes. Whether discovering global connections right here at home or journeying to international destinations, participants will deepen their cultural awareness, build confidence and independence, and grow as curious, thoughtful global citizens.
WISummer Day-Camp programs operates Monday-Friday (unless otherwise noted), with core care provided from 8:30 AM-3:30 PM. Families may add optional Extended Day Care until 6:00 PM. International Travel Trips provide 24-hour care, for the duration of the trip.



Prague & Vienna Global Trip
June 24-July 1

Designed for Grades 7-10
Join Us for an 8-Day Cultural Immersion Experience in the Czech Republic and Austria! Teens will embark on an unforgettable journey to Prague and Vienna, exploring these two vibrant cities through their rich history, local culture, food, and traditions. This is not just a sightseeing trip—it's an immersive cultural adventure!
Under the guidance of passionate WIS educators, and seasoned student travel leaders, campers will dive into the heart of Central Europe’s urban culture, visiting art museums, theaters, and concert halls, as well as taking day trips to historic sites. What makes WISummer special is the balance between structured activities and free time—campers will have a voice in choosing museums, concerts, and outdoor activities throughout the trip.
The adventure begins with three nights in Prague, where teens will explore iconic landmarks such as Old Town, Petřín Hill, Prague Castle, and the Theresienstadt Memorial. Afterward, they’ll head to Vienna for three nights, visiting the Danube, the famous Naschmarkt, and top museums like the Kunsthistorisches Museum and Belvedere Palace. They’ll also enjoy a concert or theater performance at one of Vienna's renowned venues.
At the end of the trip, each family will receive a printed picture book to cherish the memories forever.

This camp is designed for campers who will be in Grades 7-10 in the Fall of 2026. This camp is offered in English, but travelers will learn and practice basic words and phrases in German and Czech.
DC Nature Adventurers
July 6-10
Cost: $700
Location: Primary Campus, Georgetown
Designed for Grades 5-8
Get ready for an unforgettable outdoor adventure in Washington, DC and beyond! This 5-day program takes campers through some of the region’s most stunning natural landscapes, from kayaking on the Potomac at Key Bridge Boathouse and exploring Theodore Roosevelt Island to hiking the rugged trails of Shenandoah National Park. Campers will dive into nature with hands-on activities at the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center, challenge themselves at the Adventure Park at Sandy Spring, and learn about local wildlife at Huntley Meadows Park. Along the way, campers will develop outdoor skills, participate in conservation efforts, and make memories through campfire storytelling and team-building challenges. This program offers the perfect mix of adventure, education, and outdoor fun.

DC International Foodies
July 20-24

Cost: $700
Location: Primary Campus, Georgetown
Designed for Grades 5-8
Join us for a 5-day cultural immersion camp in Washington, DC, where teens will explore the city's rich ethnic enclaves through food, history, and hands-on experiences. From visiting the National Museum of African American History and Culture to savoring soul food at Ben's Chili Bowl, we'll dive deep into African American culture. Explore vibrant Chinatown and taste traditional dim sum at Tony Cheng's, before heading to Eden Center in Virginia to explore Vietnamese food and culture. Teens will also discover Middle Eastern and African cuisines at Zaytinya and LETENA, and conclude with a global food cooking class at Cookology. Along the way, campers will participate in cultural activities and visit historic neighborhoods as they explore, learn, and of course, EAT!
