Travel Camps: Grades 5-7

Designed for rising Grades 5-7, WISummer’s Travel Camp offers an exciting opportunity to explore Washington, DC, and its surrounding areas in a fun, safe, and unique way. Campers will embark on a variety of thrilling trips, discover new activities, and build lasting friendships while experiencing the city from a fresh perspective. Whether visiting iconic landmarks, hidden gems, or trying something new, each day is a new adventure with WISummer!

Session 4: July 7-11

Nature Adventurers

Get ready for an unforgettable outdoor adventure in Washington, DC and beyond! This 5-day program takes campers through some of the region’s most stunning natural landscapes, from kayaking on the Potomac at Key Bridge Boathouse and exploring Theodore Roosevelt Island to hiking the rugged trails of Shenandoah National Park. Campers will dive into nature with hands-on activities at the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center, challenge themselves at the Adventure Park at Sandy Spring, and learn about local wildlife at Huntley Meadows Park. Along the way, campers will develop outdoor skills, participate in conservation efforts, and make memories through campfire storytelling and team-building challenges. This program offers the perfect mix of adventure, education, and outdoor fun.

This camp is designed for campers who will be in Grades 5-7 in the Fall of 2025. This camp is offered in English.

Session 5: July 14-18

International Foodies

Join us for a 5-day cultural immersion camp in Washington, DC, where teens will explore the city's rich ethnic enclaves through food, history, and hands-on experiences. From visiting the National Museum of African American History and Culture to savoring soul food at Ben's Chili Bowl, we'll dive deep into African American culture. Explore vibrant Chinatown and taste traditional dim sum at Tony Cheng's, before heading to Eden Center in Virginia to explore Vietnamese food and culture. Teens will also discover Middle Eastern and African cuisines at Zaytinya and LETENA, and conclude with a global food cooking class at Cookology. Along the way, campers will participate in cultural activities and visit historic neighborhoods as they explore, learn, and of course, EAT!

This camp is designed for campers who will be in Grades 5-7 in the Fall of 2025. This camp is offered in English.
